NDT Reporting is a Thailand-based maritime tech company providing end-to-end inspection management software. Their flagship product, UTM Reporting, is designed specifically for marine surveyors and shipyard managers to streamline hull thickness surveys and asset management.

Challenge

Marine surveyors traditionally relied on paper sketches and manual Excel entries to record ultrasonic thickness measurements (UTM) on massive ship hulls. This manual process led to several critical bottlenecks:

• Significant data loss and transcription errors between the field and the office.
• Extreme delays in report delivery, often taking days to compile raw data into formal Class reports.
• Difficulty in accurately locating measurements on physical blueprints during high-pressure surveys.
• Lack of connectivity in ship hulls and remote shipyards preventing real-time data entry.

Solution

Snow Digital engineered a robust mobile platform and management dashboard that digitizes the entire UTM workflow from vessel setup to final certification.

• Interactive Blueprint Mapping: Developed a custom tool for inspectors to drop measurement pins and defect markers directly onto uploaded ship plans.
• Instant Report Engine: Built an automated generator that converts field data into customizable PDF or CSV reports in seconds, including diminution comparisons.
• Offline-First Architecture: Implemented local storage and background synchronization to allow seamless work inside steel hulls without internet access.
• Admin Dashboard: Created a web-based back-office for Superintendents to manage fleets, archive projects, and review historical gauging data.

Our Process

We worked closely with NDT specialists to translate complex maritime classification standards into a simple mobile UX. By following an Agile approach, we prioritized 'offline-first' stability and high-accuracy coordinate mapping on blueprints, ensuring the app remained reliable in the harshest shipyard environments. Continuous field testing helped us refine the PDF output to meet the strict requirements of international seaworthiness authorities.
